Time

Time is one of Non-Elemental magic that exist in Eastern Europe, and so far, only two wizards who possess this kind of magic. The first Time Wizard named Lev Nyevzorov, who possess the magic long before Russian Empire created. Later at 1911, he inherit his magic to his adopted son, named Afanasy Sarpin, after he realised his lifespan won’t be long after the last battle that he did with Spirit Wizard, Aristar Aristarkhov.

Origin

Lev Nyevzorov

Long before Russian Empire exist and Rus’ is led by many nobles, there was a young man named Lev who drafted at military of a noble despite his fragile and scrawny body. He joined an unknown war, and ironically, his scrawny body saves him to get blown by enemies. Because he kept dodging, the enemies’ weapon struck to other enemy. And as the war ended, he is the only survivor in the battle.

But the last word of his fellow soldier “You are nothing but a chicken.” that made Lev thinking, he is never worth to be a hero in the battle. He ran away to forests, trying to kill himself but afraid to stab himself. He ran away again aimlessly, until he found a beach, he walked toward the sea and drown himself to death. He become a lost soul, who staring at beach for long time, wishing that he could turn back time and have a better life.

One day, Baba Yaga and Koshchei are visiting the beach, still on their journey finding a perfect lost soul who able to possess the Non-Elemental magic. They found Lev, and she took interest on him. Lev revived again by Baba Yaga’s magic, but as half human-half ghost. He was given a surname Nyevzorov, then he learn the Time magic. His familiar is a ghost Puli dog named Pasha.

Few decades later, he fell in love with Phantasm Wizard (Seija Pajari), and have unofficial relationship in the Underworld. However, as they are half-ghost, they can’t have children forever.

He become Time Wizard a century later, and have a duty to control time and events that happened in Rus’. Had he didn’t partaking in the battle with Aristar Aristarkhov, Lev would have been a Time Wizard until present time.

Afanasy Sarpin

Long time before October Revolution, there’s a male baby who born at 1911. The mother, who didn’t want the baby, drown him to the river and left him alone. In the last breath of the baby, Lev Nyevzorov found and quickly adopt him before the baby’s soul flies to the Underworld. The baby then named Afanasy, with the surname Sarpin as Lev seeing through the baby’s history: a baby that born from loveless marriage, where the mother was just marrying for the money and later cheating from her husband. The husband, who have surname Sarpin, also shunned because of false rumour of him cheating instead. Afanasy Sarpin becomes the adopted son of Nyevzorov and Pajari.

One year later, Nyevzorov decided to asking help to Aristarkhov, if the baby could be fully revived as human. But he surprised when Aristarkhov announcing himself as part of White faction. This led to unavoidable battle, causing Nyevzorov losing his immortal power, and Aristarkhov losing his immunity with Time magic.

Realising Nyevzorov have little time before he completely perished, he decided to taught his adoped son to be the next Time Wizard when the baby becomes a child. Pajari become the guardian, making sure Aristarkhov didn’t try to attack Nyevzorov and Sarpin.

Because Sarpin been trained since little, he able to master the Time magic just before his 30th birthday. And as Nyevzorov finished his lesson, he turned into ashes and going straight to afterlife. Sarpin becomes the Time Wizard until present time. Later he has a ghost Nebelung cat named Kuzya.

Sarpin also able to defeat Aristarkhov few years after the second death of Nyevzorov, made Aristarkhov realised his mistake in the past. At the end, all of Non-elemental wizards make a peace, and together ruling the Underworld until present time.

Magic Ability

Immortality

By being half-human-half-ghost, Both Nyevzorov and Sarpin cannot be killed by anything (physical or magical attack), except with the same Non-Elemental wizard. At 1912, Lev Nyevzorov losing his immortality when he fights with Aristarkhov and have shorter lifespan afterwards. Meanwhile, Sarpin wins the fight, therefore he could maintain his immortality.

Time and Dimension Travel

Both Nyevzorov and Sarpin could travel to another dimension and time whenever they please, including able to change the past or future. But they can’t change the past or future when it related to anyone’s death. In order to do that, they need to cooperate with Spirit Wizard (Aristarkhov). He mostly will use this spell whenever a mortal human or a wizard making a pact to lend the Non-Elemental magic.

Halting Song

Both Nyevzorov and Sarpin could chanting a spell that could stop the time and events. But in order to do that, they need to run and circling the area, which they want the time in that area to stop. It’s far difficult if the area was larger than a normal Oblast’.

Therefore, both of them have familiar to help with this complicated spell. Nyevzorov had a ghost Puli dog named Pasha, while Sarpin had a ghost Nebelung cat named Kuzya, which later also inherit Pasha when Nyevzorov going back to afterlife.

Immunity to elemental magic

Both Nyevzorov and Sarpin unable to be attacked by any elemental magic attack. Instead, the magic that being thrown at them will attack back with the original casters. Despite Nyevzorov losing his immortality at 1912, he still able to maintain his immunity skill.

Clairvoyance skill

Time Wizard able to predict a future without need to do time travel, though he could only do that only in one dimension where the wizard lived. And when needed, this clairvoyance skill is used to help Spirit Wizard’s ultimate power: Resurrection Spell.

Nyevzorov used to scared with this power, and along with Baba Yaga, he divide this ability into fourteen parts and randomly gives it to elemental wizards. The last part, Nyevzorov only use it when he was needed with the resurrection. However, the power was not too strong than using full clairvoyance skill. His decision to do that also causing the main factor of Neutral Hunt, and his own second demise later.

When Sarpin becomes Time Wizard and able to regain Aristarkhov’s sense, Sarpin reclaim all of thirteen parts of clairvoyance skill. He is more determined and confident with this power, and therefore ending the Neutral Hunt. Since then, Sarpin become more skillful when helping with the Resurrection Spell.

Characters who used to make a pact with Time Wizard

1. Arman Bulikhanov - 2011. He made a pact to resurrect Valery Gubtsov as his familiar.
2. Unnamed Russian military officer - 2016. He made a pact to resurrect Viktor Vetlugaev as Fire Wizard.
3. Dmitri Besedin - 2021. He made a pact to see Viktor Vetlugaev and help him regaining his human state.
