Sand element is one of thirteen elemental magic that available in Eastern Europe, and the last place of derivative element list in the Eastern Europe Magic Law. The one who possess the Sand element must be a male wizard, who born with Earth element in a very limited but deadly amount. Which means, Sand element cannot be learnt by common Earth element, nor the female wizards.
In present time, Sand wizards are one of uncommon in whole population of Eastern Europe, but common to be found at Central Asia. And until now, only male wizards who can possess this element, while female wizards in those area are still have their Earth element as usual. It’s still unknown of why female wizards unable to learn Sand element, doesn’t matter with years of practice or doing experiments.
History
First Sand wizard that known in the history of magic is Saken Bulikhanov. Born from two Earth wizards who live in dry land of Kazakh, he cannot casting heavy spells like his parents. But soon he discovered that he can manipulate sands or pebbles better, turning them as bullets to stab targets. As phenomenon of all male Earth wizards in those area are more skilled in Sand element, Saken decided to create a community for male Sand wizards. The community later spread until Mongolia, making them quite famous by other elemental wizards.
Location and Distribution
Until 1990s, Sand Wizard can be located at Central Asia. Their location didn’t changed even after Wizard Hunt and Neutral Hunt happened, as they are quite territorial and hostile to newcomer.
In modern times, Sand wizards are more openly, by living in normal life among other wizards and human in various places.
Magic Ability
As per name, Sand wizards means they can manipulate and create sand. They are also notably can create a gemstone just like Metal wizard, though this will draining a lot of energy.
Characteristic
Since Sand wizards are born-based, not created or learnt-based, they have their own characteristic:
Male-Only
All of Sand wizard are male. While female wizards who born at the same place, still possess the Earth element as usual. It’s still unknown of the reason behind this, and until now it’s still under research to make sure female wizards can also possess Sand element.
However, both element can have same deadly magic amount if being trained well.
Magic Media
Before 1991, Sand wizard’s weapon are all same as they are under the same community led by Saken Bulikhanov: a bow and arrows made from hardened sand. They cast the spell while shooting the arrows.
At 1991, by Eastern Europe Magic Law, all Sand wizard’s weapon are completely changed to a small sundial attached to their hand, as if wearing a watch. They cast the spell while swinging their sundial.
Notable History
Wizard Hunt (1220-1723)
Sand Wizards are considered as neutral side, not even participating nor hunted by humans and wizards who join The Dark or The Light faction. However, as many Sand and Earth wizards in Central Asia being attacked by both faction, Sand wizard community choose to be very territorial. Sand wizards are responsible to many murders of innocent wizards who seeking asylum in neutral areas.
At the end of Wizard Hunt, Saken Bulikhanov forced to become the representative of Sand element. With several element wizards, they signing the peaceful agreement.
Murdering of Elder Fire Wizard (1722)
Saken Bulikhanov and his 22 friends are responsible with the family of Elder of Fire Wizard’s murder. Bulikhanov’s community are attacking the entire family when the family was on the run, seeking a shelter after being hunted by The Dark faction. Thinking the newcomer as a threat just like both The Dark and The Light faction, Bulikhakov immediately gave order to kill the entire family. Only after realising they kill Elder of Fire Wizard, Bulikhanov regretting what he has done.
In the peace agreement at 1723, Bulikhanov found guilty in the wizardry world. Bulikhanov punished by forced to sign the peaceful agreement, lifetime jail at Siberia, and unable to have any familiar and magic medias. This led to strong reaction from Sand community, especially from eldest son named Aybek Bulikhanov, making a defense how they don’t know Elder Wizards are still exist. They are stay hostile to protect themselves from everyone.
Neutral Hunt (1918-1990)
All of Sand wizards are join The White faction when hearing the news about Soviet Union being established. Even after Civil War ended, Sand wizard kept being hostile to any newcomers. Their silent but deadly weapon making every newcomer wizards unable to track nor make a peace.
Only after 1990 and several areas (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan) gain their independence, Sand wizard are become more open to other wizards, and agreeing to have military alliances with Magic Force of Russia. Some of Sand wizards are sent to Russia and other countries as exchange students and soldiers.
Indigo Conflict (2004-2021)
Sand Wizards are one of participants in the Indigo Conflict, specifically in spying suspicious people and warn the wizards in the same area. Some of them are also playing role in hunting and killing Indigo people.
