Main Questions about magic usage.
How is it learned and executed?
The magic learned through lesson after school or college (for children, teen) and military base (for everyone who listed on conscription). Each elements has their own teachers or officers to teach the students. They don't have special magic schools, but instead special learning service that disguised as martial art class or scouts. While the military base has their own place to learn magic. Wizards who join the conscription will only learn to use human weapons for 4-6 months, then learn to use magic until conscription finished. Some elements like Ice, Nature, Metal, Lava, Thunder need a longer conscription until 2 years because they are mastering 2-3 elements. Unlike the wizards who only have one element (Fire, Earth, Sand, Water, Sea, Rain, Wind and Gale)
How it was executed? By casting the poem and point with your media. Each elements has their own media, but in the nutshell... Earth element's media is made by wood or stones. So wand is executable, so does with kitchen tools or a mere rock. Fire element's media is made by steel. A pen usually being used. Before steel pen created, a knife or a sword is more popular. Water element's media is made by manila rope or canvass. Usually it remade into belt. Wind element's media is made by silk or cotton. Handkerchief or loose outfit being used for magic
How a young wizard get their elemental magic?
Depend on his/her parents.
If a wizard married with human, the baby's power will be determined by when the baby was born. Usually horoscope become the ultimate guide to know the baby's potential element.
Earth signs (Capricorn, Taurus, Virgo) will shape the baby's power to Earth element Fire signs (Aries, Leo, Sagitarius) will shape the baby's power to Fire element Water signs (Pisces, Cancer, Scorpio) will shape the baby's power to Water element Wind signs (Aquarius, Gemini, Libra) will shape the baby's power to Wind element
However, if two humans married and have a baby wizard, the horoscope rule was slightly bent. The date of horoscope was following the Gregorian calendar. So it's quite a problem in a present time, because Eastern Europe now also using Julian calendar. Wizard who born from two human need to document their birth certificate to Eastern Europe Magic Law.
And if a wizard born from two wizards (either with same or different elements), horoscope rule isn't applied. The young wizard will inherit the same element from their parent, or creating new elements (Metal/Ice/Lava/Sand) depend on the condition with the parents element.
How is it accessed?
The magic accessed by chanting a short poem. No matter the languages sounded like, it has same meaning with the poem that being taught from elder wizards in Eastern Europe.
Wizards usually have two or three poems. One is for general magic. The other is a special magic which gifted from birth, and not everyone can master the same magic. Example: Fire Wizard can cast spell to manipulate fire in general, but not every Fire Wizard can mastering their fire to freeze someone, or fire to heal a wound, or fire to create doppelganger, and other kinds.
Does it have a will of its own?
Before 1991, the magic still have a will of its own. Because the magic system still only based on "evil and good" side. The evil one consider themselves to fight the human government and taken over the world. The good one consider themselves to cooperate and taken over the world through manipulation. Because of this, those sides fought each other to get the position at Soviet Union. After 1991, some wizard survivors inside government decided that the magic needs to be controlled just like how human being controlled with their guns. So they made the law to control Eastern Europe wizards, to prevent same mistake that they did before.
Is it restricted in space and time?
Yes. Every magic can only happened inside earth, and happened in current time. Exception for 3 non-element wizards, who can manipulate Time, Soul, and Illusion. These three wizard can cast their magic for past, present and future.
What does available magic do?

How does it relate to the character, the plot, and the theme of book?
The magic plays the major part in the story. The plot was about how wizards and supernatural creatures blending themselves with human, and have their own conflict with wizard from different country just like human did.
What is the cost of the magic?
The wizard's energy. Every time they cast the magic, their energy reduced depends on the spell itself. The energy can be slowly replenished by taken a rest. The other way is by killing human. The killing itself have other benefit: to made the wizard grew stronger and shorter time to replenish their magic in next time.
What can it not do?
a. Depends on the intention: A good wizard cannot use their magic to kill human. If they must, has to be human way (guns, bombs, knives, bare hands, etc) An evil wizard cannot use their magic to heal human. If they must, has to be human way (bandage, medicines) A neutral wizard can only use their magic with balance amount (example: 5 timed evil intention, 5 times good intention) otherwise they lose their neutralism. The title of good/evil/neutral earned based on how often a wizard use their magic for bad/good, usually earned at 20 years old.
However in the present time, this intention and label for wizards are start to blurred as more generation realised world isn’t black-white at all.
And only by 2010, Magic Force in entire Eastern Europe has invented the loophole to make everyone can cast spell without karmic effect: shortened the poem spell. This also become the end of any good/evil/neutral label.
b. Each other elements cannot use the magic other than their own elements. Unless they practiced and the element that learned is executable. But once they learned other element, the wizards have to balance the usage. Otherwise they will lose one of element that they don't practice anymore Fire element can learn Water and Wind element Earth element can learn Water Element Water element can learn Earth Element Wind element is the one who cannot learn any element, but Wind element can learn Gale element and vice versa.
How long does it last?
Lifetime. The exception is for children who restricted or exploited by their parents to use their magic. Thus they lost the magic power except the power to detect supernatural stuff. Usually happens with a wizard who born from two humans. In other words, the child become "Indigo". Wizards cannot restricted nor exploited their child who has potential of magic. Otherwise the child will be taken by social service and adopted by other wizards who will taught the child well.
Who can use it?
The one who born as wizard. Either from two wizards, or wizard-human, or two humans. The common sign is to have magic eyes glowing in the dark, or the child start to talk to supernatural creatures and ghosts.
For the wizard who born from two humans, usually because of their ancestor used to be a wizard, but later the descendant was born as human instead as wizard.
How do others reacts over it?
The modern humans who know the wizards existence are more open minded. They are accepting them, even more helping. The wizards secretly still too scared to open their identity, so they still bound the humans who know the wizard with deadly spell. That the human will die when they leaked the secret of wizards. Some human aren't fond enough with wizards, especially the one who are really religious. "Indigo", the lost powered wizards are also dislike the wizard and try to get rid of them. The reason was simple; they are jealous. The wizards despising Indigo too, even not counting Indigo as wizard too because of unknown element power and its amount.
Why haven't people with this power taken over the world?
Because they aren't going to do the same mistake that they did before. They tried to took over the world and resulted as civil war, killing many wizard population until almost wiped out. For now they only half controlling schools and military, to teach the young wizards about using their power wisely. And the wizards has more awareness to not making hierarchy between pure-blood, half-blood or human-born wizards... specifically since they have the same fear: Indigo Human
What is Indigo Wizard?
Indigo wizard are the naming that given to several elemental wizards who are blessed with clairvoyance skill. Back then the first Time Wizard, Lev Nyevzorov, unable to learn clairvoyance skill because he’s afraid to see his own second death. Baba Yaga then dividing the skill and randomly giving it to wizards in entire Eastern Europe. This shall not to be confused with Indigo Human who originated from potential wizards whose their power exploited in childhood.
With great power, comes great responsibility. Indigo wizard become main target in The Dark / The Light faction, and later The Red / The White faction in later century. After Afanasy Sarpin reclaimed the clairvoyance skill at 1990, there are no Indigo Wizard anymore. This is also ending the main cause of the long war between wizards.
