In my worldbuilding... Rasputin was not a wizard at all. He was an Indigo Human who trained to be shaman alike by Emelyan Lyutinskiy. As they are from Light Faction and later siding to The White, it means Rasputin placed near Romanov family to protect the Empire. Too bad Rasputin was a bit careless to expose his ability, led to his death. Probably also made The White too late to secure their power, and The Red able to seize the power in 1917.
